The story is about a 12-year-old orphaned boy named Dre Parker who lives in Detroit, Michigan, but has to move with his mother to live in Beijing, China. When he moved there, he got acquainted and got along well with My Anh, a girl from the same school. However, he was also bullied by his friends, led by Trinh. They even gave him a fight and had to ask Mr. Han, a master of Kung fu to help him. Li master knows the news so he makes Dre join the "Kung fu Tournament" or he will take the hit. Therefore, Mr. Han taught him martial arts for self-defense and participated in the tournament. Dre Parker practiced quite hard and during one visit to a martial arts temple, he saw a martial arts master manipulating a snake.
One day, Mr. Han reported to leave because that day was the day his wife and children died because he had an argument with his wife, leading to his distraction and an accident. Dre helped him regain the will to train with him. And while playing Kung fu, he met Trinh in the finals, but he was very injured. Fortunately, Mr. Han's sensory method helped him ease the pain and drew 2-2 with Trinh. Then he suddenly remembered the martial arts master's ability to control the snake and beat Trinh with the score 3-2. Dre returned with the trophy and pride of Mr. Han.
There is a cut scene at the end of the film, where Master Li gets angry at his defeat and fights with Mr. Han, and is defeated by Mr. Han in the end.
