Joey Lynn King (born July 30, 1999) is an American actress. She first gained recognition for portraying Ramona Quimby in the comedy film Ramona and Beezus (2010) and has since gained wider recognition for her lead role in The Kissing Booth (2018) and its two sequels. King received critical acclaim for her starring role in the crime drama series The Act (2019), for which she was nominated for both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. In 2022 she played the titular role of The Princess in Disney's The Princess (movie). King has also appeared in the films Battle: Los Angeles (2011), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), The Conjuring (2013), White House Down (2013), Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), Bullet Train (2022) and The Princess (2022), as well as the first season of the FX black comedy crime drama series Fargo.
Joel Courtney (born January 31, 1996) is an American actor, known for his starring roles in the Steven Spielberg blockbuster Super 8 (2011) and the Netflix hit The Kissing Booth (2018). Joel was born into a Navy family in Monterey, California, and is the youngest of four children - an older sister and two older brothers. After his father's retirement when he was 5, his family relocated to Moscow, Idaho, where Joel spent the rest of his childhood attending a small classical Christian school where both his parents taught. When he was 14, Joel went to Los Angeles with his father to visit his brother Caleb who was seeking a career as an actor. While in LA, Joel decided to spend a month auditioning for television commercials in the hopes of leaving with a little money in his pocket. However, before attending even his first audition, his brother's acting coach suggested that Joel attend a casting call for a top-secret J.J. Abrams project. After 11 callbacks, Joel landed his first acting job as the starring role in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster Super 8 (2011) After his success in Super 8 (2011), Joel appeared in several movies including Sins of Our Youth (2014), Mercy (2014), and Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn (2014). He then booked a starring role as Peter Moore in the CW show The Messengers (2015). Joel was able to return to Moscow, Idaho in the summer of 2014 to star in the movie The River Thief (2016), which was produced and directed by friends and community members from Joel's hometown. He was able to work with almost his entire family on the project, including his brother Josh and sister Chantelle who both had significant roles in the film. After The River Thief (2016), Joel went on to star in the high school drama F*&% the Prom (2017) before booking the Netflix hit The Kissing Booth (2018) which launched him back into the public spotlight as the lovable teenager Lee Flynn. As of 2019, The Kissing Booth (2018) was the most watched Netflix movie in history. Joel will reprise the role of Lee Flynn in The Kissing Booth 2 (2020) and A The Kissing Booth 3 (2021).
Molly Kathleen Ringwald (born February 18, 1968) is an American actress, singer, dancer, and author. She was cast in her first major role as Molly in the NBC sitcom The Facts of Life (1979–80) after a casting director saw her playing an orphan in a stage production of the musical Annie. She and several other members of the original Facts of Life cast were let go when the show was reworked by the network. She subsequently made her motion-picture debut as Miranda in the independent film Tempest (1982), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year. Ringwald is known for her collaborations with filmmaker John Hughes. She established herself as a teen icon after appearing in the successful Hughes films Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Pretty in Pink (1986). She later starred in The Pick-up Artist (1987), Fresh Horses (1988), and For Keeps (1988). She starred in many films in the 1990s, most notably Something to Live for: The Alison Gertz Story (1992), The Stand (1994), and Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade (1994 short film – precursor to Sling Blade). Ringwald was part of the "Brat Pack" and she was ranked number one on VH1's 100 Greatest Teen Stars. Since 2017, Ringwald has portrayed Mary Andrews on The CW television series Riverdale.
The Kissing Booth Review
The Kissing Booth is a 2018 American teenage romantic comedy film written and directed by Vince Marcello and based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Beth Reekles. Starring Joey King, Jacob Elordi, and Joel Courtney. The film follows the eccentric and late-blooming teenage Elle (King) as he begins a romance with high school senior bad boy Noah (Elodie) and a lifelong relationship with Noah's younger brother Lee (Courtney). Friendships are threatened.
Based in Los Angeles, California, Elle Evans and Lee Flynn have been friends since birth. When Elle was 11 years old, his mother fell ill and died three years later. Elle's secret feelings for Lee's popular brother Noah deepen, but she suppresses them.
On the first day of her sophomore year, Elle has to wear a skirt that is too small. Noah gets into an argument with him when her tappen touches her inappropriately. Tuppen, Noah and Elle are taken into custody and Tuppen apologizes. Elle later agrees to go on a date with Tappen, but he doesn't show up as Noah has warned everyone not to go after her.
Elle and Lee suggest hosting a kiss booth as a fundraiser for the school. At the party, Elle tells her popular OMG girls (Olivia, Mia, and Gwyneth) that Noah will be joining them at the booth, but Noah has already refused to attend.
The kiss booth goes well until Noah is scheduled to attend, but Lee takes his place, disappointing her girls. Classmate Rachel comes forward and kisses Lee, and the two leave Elle to go to the booth. OMG girls who pissed her off at her El tricked her into kissing her unwanted student. At the final moment, the student waves Noah forward. He blindfolds her and kisses Elle, and when she realizes Noah kissed her, they kiss again in front of everyone.
Noah suggests Elle ride a motorcycle and the rain takes her to a gazebo. There, Elle kisses him and tells him she can't be another sexual conquest... Ouch, he reveals he has feelings for her.
At her beach party, Warren tries to lure Elle into the hot tub. Noah defends her, Warren taunts him, and Noah attacks Warren while Elle escapes. Noah catches up with her girlfriend and takes her home. Along the way, he apologizes for his violent reaction to Warren's disrespect. They travel to the Hollywood sign and have sex for the first time. They set the rules for the relationship, mainly with the goal that Lee never realized they were together.
Elle overhears Noah's mother saying that she got into an Ivy League school. He reveals that he has been accepted to Harvard University and swears them to secrecy. While fixing Noah's bike, Elle cuts his face. Lee finds Noah cleaning her wound and accuses him of hurting her. When Lee asks Elle if she and Noah are dating, she says no.After she agrees to tell Lee her truth, Lee approaches the two kissing. . Upset that Elle broke her friendship rules, Lee ran to the car and told her that all her brother didn't have was their friendship and she now has none. She says no and she drives off. Elle lashes out at Noah, accusing him of revealing their relationship, so he drives off on his motorcycle.
Noah risks not graduating by missing school for the next few weeks, and Lee ignores Elle completely. Elle sees Lee at the arcade and invites her to dance with him and they reconcile.
Elle goes to prom with Lee and Rachel, who are now dating. A special exhibit at the prom, Memory Her Lane walls are adorned with a vast array of black-and-white photographs, including a photo of her kissing her booth. Noah appears from behind, invites Elle to the stage and professes his love, but Elle runs away. He apologizes to Lee at his home and tells him that his feelings for Elle are serious, despite leaving for Harvard the next day.
At Elle and Lee's birthday costume party the next day, Elle confesses her love for Noah to Lee. He relents, wanting her to be happy and agreeing to help her find Noah. Driving Lee's car, Elle shares her feelings for Noah with "Lee", dressed in his Batman costume, only to discover it is Noah in the costume.
Elle and Noah spend the following weeks together before he leaves for college. Watching him go, she is unsure if their relationship will last, but she knows a part of her heart will always belong to him.
